The ground, in a few words
Former cattle and timber ground became four recreational properties and a lake-centered retreat with a piece of local history built into its cabin.
Lake Faunsdale began with approximately 1,800 acres of former cattle and timberland. The opportunity was not to give every acre the same future, but to work with the ground and create places people could enjoy for years.
Roughly 1,050 acres were developed into four larger recreational properties. Roads made the land usable, fishing ponds gave each place a reason to slow down, and wildlife habitat improvements strengthened its recreational character.
The approximately 750-acre flagship holding took a different path. Old fields were restored, a roughly 70-acre recreational lake became the centerpiece, and a cabin was built using materials salvaged from the historic Cedar Haven plantation home.
That flagship property was held for a decade before being sold. Its story brings together large-scale land development, time spent living with a place, and a tangible connection to the area's history.
