The ground, in a few words
Waterfront recreational tracts, shaped around the creek and protected against the changes that would undo their rural character.
Approximately 1,000 acres along Bogue Chitto Creek and the backwaters of the William “Bill” Dannelly Reservoir brought together hardwood bottoms, uplands and extensive water frontage. The water was the draw; the variety of terrain gave the project its depth.
Roads and trails connected the ground. Habitat improvements, water access and overlooks made it possible to experience the property beyond its boundaries on a map. The holding was developed into recreational tracts ranging from 100 to 200 acres.
Protective covenants were applied to prevent further subdivision or commercial use. The aim was to preserve the rural character that made these properties worth creating in the first place.
